Where: PianoFight 144 Taylor Street SF, CA When: July 6th, 7th, 8th 7PM Tickets available at bit.ly/themagicNegro Kurt Weitzmann’s new play the magic Negro. will be premiered as an entry for the Short Lived competition at PianoFight in San Francisco, starring Amy Larson and Stephen L. Wilson. The provocative title was chosen after much deliberation, but its incendiary nature certainly sets the mood for the drama that unfolds. The play is about a high contrast exchange at a bus stop on the day before the 2008 election of our first African American president. It is a short piece, but the amount of emotional twists and turns is a testament to the talents of two amazing actors. The play is a high wire act of racial sensitivity that can only succeed with the perfect storm of consummate writing, thoughtful direction, and extremely skilled acting. the magic Negro. is a Boiling Frog Entertainment, LLC production. The Team: Amy Larson’s acting credits include stage, film, improvisation and voiceover, including the play The Gigolo Chronicles, films Binlowes Locker and Six Feet from the Edge, and narration for a piece opposing the repeal of the Affordable Care Act Stephen L. Wilson hails from Atlanta and has worked on Numerous TV and independent film rolls and most recently commanded the roll of Alexander in Warehousing at Stage Werx. Kurt Weitzmann started writing for his stand up comedy act back in the early 90’s at the infamous Holy City Zoo where he performed with such luminaries as Patton Oswalt, Margaret Cho, and Robin Williams. Kurt is the curator and host of the monthly series Staged Resistance – a Night of Political Theater at PianoFight. He won best narrative short for his film Last Call at the Columbia Gorge International Film Festival in 2010 and most recently directed the award winning film #BeRobin The Movie in 2016, available online on Amazon Video. M. Thaddeus Ronquillo ("Mar") is Head of Operations and the business side of Boiling Frog Entertainment, and is taking on the roll of co-director of the magic Negro. A native San Franciscan, Mar graduated as the Valedictorian from Sacred Heart High School (now Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory), attended law school, and for a time provided legal assistance to survivors of domestic violence and senior abuse --and he's on a season 12 episode of KQED's Check, Please! Bay Area...
